Our Mission
Our mission is to help you STOP obsessing about food and your body, and START nourishing yourself without guilt — so that you can be the vibrant, unique, incredible person you’re meant to be.
Our Nutrition Philosophy
We believe that everyone is born with the innate ability to listen to their bodies. We also know — from our own personal experiences, and from experiences that clients share with us — that our diet- and weight-obsessed culture can make it really, really hard to honor our bodies’ needs. We’re told from a young age to ignore our appetites, make ourselves smaller, and eat according to a set of rules (that keeps changing).
As anti-diet dietitians, we’re here to help you tune out the noise of diet culture, and tune back into your own body. We take a fully anti-diet, weight-inclusive approach because we know that it’s the best path towards feeling comfortable in your own skin, confident in your food choices, and empowered to live the best, most fulfilling life that you can.
At Ruby Oak Nutrition, we know eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image struggles affect people of all shapes, sizes, races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, ability levels, and economic backgrounds. We also know that our culture, the media, the medical establishment, and even the eating disorder field aren’t exactly safe spaces for people with marginalized identities. Of course we’re not perfect either, but we’re constantly learning, challenging our own biases, and striving to be an inclusive and affirming space for all.

Our Nutrition Services
We offer anti-diet nutrition counseling for people age 13 and up. For teenagers, we take a family-based treatment approach that actively involves parents/caregivers in the eating disorder recovery process.

Our Story
Ruby Oak Nutrition was founded in 2021 by Christine Byrne, a dietitian and former journalist. (We were originally called Christine Byrne Nutrition, but that name doesn’t reflect the expansive, collaborative group practice we’re building!) Christine saw the need for more anti-diet nutrition services that empowered clients to trust their own bodies, instead of prescribing them cookie-cutter diets.
There are lots of fantastic anti-diet nutrition practices out there, AND there are so many people still in need of services who aren’t able to access them because of long waitlists, long distances, cost, and more.Christine started seeing a few clients out of Current Wellness, a wellness studio and co-working space for HAES-aligned practitioners, in 2021. Her client load grew steadily over the course of that first year, and she hired her first associate dietitian in March 2023.
As Ruby Oak Nutrition continues to grow, we’re committed to continuing to provide excellent nutrition counseling for eating disorders and disordered eating, while expanding our anti-diet services to other areas of nutrition, like pregnancy, lactation, diabetes, sports nutrition, and more.
